TEACHING

Amelia Kaminski_CFE.jpg

"A very informed, caring & patient teacher who will influence the next generation of performers in a profoundly positive way"

- Guy Humphreys, Edmonton, AB

"Amelia taught me the intricacies of the instrument from the very beginning.

Each lesson was thoughtfully planned in order to build skill, musicianship and repertoire."

- Maggie Fry, Edmonton, AB

Amelia designed a specialized methodology for learning to play by ear based on ancient Scottish piping techniques and her own experience as  a teacher. This program offers a enhanced method of learning by ear that supports “hearing”  what is happening in the piece,  development of  personal expression, and greater retention of repertoire.

She founded and directed the performing ensemble “The Celtic Fiddlers of Edmonton”. The group comprised of  students trained in this method, performed at a variety of high profile functions including providing pre show entertainment for the “Natalie MacMaster with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra” performance at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.

Amelia now teaches a variety of musical styles that include, Scottish, Cape Breton, Irish, Old Time, light Classical and French-Canadian. Students can learn by ear, by reading music or both.
